No, this is not a tribute to Rolling Stone’s 26th best song of all time. Instead, I’m here to announce a new feature on FatBlog and hopefully elicit your help with a tasty contest.

The hardest thing about a motivated, self-promoting artist or entertainer is finding other artists of your same discipline to mine for ideas. What sites should you be on? What’s the best way to build a Twitter following? What should you be blogging about? Unfortunately, if you are an actor, or a photographer, or a rapper, or a dancer, the answers are completely different.

In our new A Day in the Life series, FatBlog will be running interviews with a wide array of creative professionals and picking their brains. Just how does an actor promote his skills on the web? Where does an artisan go to find customers for her crafts? How can a photographer hook up with local clients? We’ll be investigating all this and more in the weeks and months to come.

And here’s where we elicit your help. We know you all have great tips to share with us to make all our lives online more fruitful, and FatBlog wants to hear them. Write us an article, just 300-400 words, about one of the ways you promote yourself online. Yes, we know you have a Twitter account, and a Facebook fan page (you do, right?). We want to hear what specific, non-standard techniques work specifically for you and your craft as an actor, writer, artist, comedian, musician, or whatever your niche is. Articles accepted by the editorial team at FatBlog will qualify for one of three website redesigns courtesy of Fat Dude Design.

So, there you have it. Fat Dude needs you, but more importantly, your fellow artists need you. Share your career hacks today and let’s get pounding that digital pavement together!
